Here is my lovely new shed to keep us sheltered from the elements. I fired last week and it was raining, but we all stayed dry. Thank you Liam and Eli.

studio action
Val David spring
The snow is finally melted and it is time to fire again. The new kiln is firing too quickly for my taste, but we are starting to get the hang of it. The glazes are simple stone, ash, clay mixes that are showing an interesting range of surfaces and colours. As always, it is an ongoing process. The studio is very busy with my own work, students and open studio. The next session of workshops will be this summer. One week will be hand building with primitive fire and there will be a two week workshop of handbuilding wit glaze and gas fire. Those interested should contact me at robinhutchinson@hotmail.com

classes
This year I am offering a winter session of handbuilding and open barrel firing. We will be using a variety of clays, burnishing and then firing with straw, pine needles and wood. Mixed in to the combustibles will be metal salts which will vaporize and give interesting colours. We have lots of snow right now and it is toocold to fire, so we are looking at an April firing date.
